Before going to a convention:
- take care you have a free weekend. Also the days before the convention weekend is a good option to ask free. With these extra days you have more time for your travel, exploring the country where you are. But not to forget is that you have some extra time before and after the convention for yourself.
- pack your stuff on time and check several times if you have everything you want to take with you
- if you go travel by public transport, book your train/bus/plane on time, it takes care you have less stress
- when you go to an official convention the organization often managed a discount code for the hotel. If you want to stay in the hotel where the convention will be held, use this code. This will cost you already less money. And believe me a convention can become exepensive
- be prepared with what you wanna wear; buy something new, or wear something you feel comfortable with
- stand up early to prepare yourself and to leave on time to the convention
- wear comfortable shoes
During the convention:
- take on time a break to get back some energy for the rest of the day
- go to the toilet outside of the convention place (with comic cons). At the convention area itself are always long lines in front of the toilets, and you don’t want to miss things
- drink enough water – stay hydrated
- eat on time; not only fruit or a sandwich, but also some sweets, chips etc to get sugar and salt
- be on time for your photo moment with your favorite guest. Go in line 15 minutes before the actual time of the photo booth
- if you want to join a panel and a good seat, be on time. The best you can do is to watch the panel before the panel you actually want to watch
- make a talk with the stand people in the Dealer and Artist Hall, they always love to hear your experiences
- give thanks
- make fun and create memories
- extra note; take care that you put a bottle of water and deodorant in your bag
After the convention:
- take the time to let everything sink in
- make a little scrapbook with special memories
- keep in contact with the people/friends you want to hold contact with
- keep the magic of the convention alive
- frame your photos or put them in a scrapbook
- unpack your back(s) and/or suitcase(s)
