Paris Manga Con October 2019

After going to different conventions, it was a kind of time to go to a convention alone. This time in Paris, France to meet several actors. Going alone this time, which means I have to plan the travel and stay myself. And my French isn’t really great, but lucky enough you can book different things in your own language. I booked my train for the travel and somewhere to stay.

Because of the fact that Paris can be expensive, I wasn’t searching for a hotel. And I came to an appartment on the airbnb site (which by the way is a really great site to get a stay in another country for a good price). An appartment which was 2 streets away of the place where the convention was, so a perfect location to stay.

A few weeks before the convention weekend, I became more nervous. Not because of the convention, but because of the travel to make alone. I have travelled alone before, but not to a country where I barely speak the language. The day of the travel I just did what I had planned, and actually everything went well. At Paris Gare du Nord, I had to take the metro further to go to Porte de Versailles. It wasn’t that easy to get this ticket in the first place, because someone who was before me has put the ticket machine in Chinese and didn’t put it back to English. Really great, but I managed to get it back to Englisch, grabbed a metro ticket and took the metro to Porte de Versailles.

Arrived in Porte de Versailles and I walked to my airbnb appartment, where I was welcomed very friendly by the owner. She showed me the appartment and I could unpack already a little bit. After I did this, I made a little walk and did some shopping in a supermarkt. Ofcourse I didn’t packed enough food & drinks for the con, but lucky me (again) there was a supermarkt at different streets near me.

Then the convention itself, it was an absolute great experience. The convention was maybe a little busy and overwhelmed in and around the Dealer Hall. For me it was a good one I wasn’t a lot there, only to walk through to go to another hall. Next of this hall which was overwhelmed, the rest of the convention was good organized. It was clear where you can eat, drink, go to the toilet etc. Also the Guest Hall was a good place to have panels, photobooth stands and tables for autographs. There was enough space for everyone to walk, sit around and for still doing the different activities.

All by all it was a magical experience for me the first time in Paris
